OUR IN-DEVELOPMENT SHOW
BACK TO ANNA
A crisp, multi-rolling play about the forgotten female voices and lived experiences Leo Tolstoy co-opted to write Anna Karenina. We explore authorship as power and writing as negotiation, merging sharp text with vibrant movement.
Back to Anna is federspiel's current full-length, in-development production.

It's been a journey.
We began our research and writing in 2018; we held a staged reading in 2020, right before lockdown. In March 2021, London's Pushkin House hosted us for a COVID-safe R&D, filming and live Q&A of Act I. This work has been possible due to the generous support of the Carne Trust. And, of course, the brilliant creatives who have joined us: Sanda Bourenane (Anna), Will Bishop (Leo) and Zak Nemorin (movement director).
We are now looking for a home for a full production.
